In November 2019 foundation pupil Robert Findlay, class 3P1, 1960, learnt that there was not going to be a 60th reunion.

Having attended the 25th and 50th he was keen mark the 60th as by the time the 75th comes around he figures he and  many of his fellow pupils will have past.

Robert strongly agrees with the sentiments of “Auld Lang Syne”.  That old acquaintances should not be forgot just because of separation by distance or time.

So he took up the suggestion of fellow foundation pupil and friend David Wilson of “organizing it yourself”.

With the help of Pamela Knox / Absolum, Olive Sharp, Clive Chandler and support of Principal Phil Holstein a successful reunion was held on the 2nd and 3rd of Feb. 2020. Considering the 2nd was the first day back at school  for pupils this was quite an achievement only made possible by Principal Phil who also believed in the importance of marking milestones.

This publication consists of  twelve newsletters. Totaling 112 pages with many photos and illustrations. The twelfth newsletter  of 24 pages records the event.

The other newsletters  promoted the event. They  contain a host of references to happenings in the foundation year.

The publication is dedicated to Miss Clarke the longest serving of the foundation teachers who came to Burnside from Dannevirke High School where Robert’s grandfather was on the Board of Governors
